Wow! that’s a lot of names! Dearbhail is Irish, Dear-val as best as my Yank tongue will allow. Reminds me of Dervish, somehow but I still like that it’s authentic.
My favorites:
Cécile Marie Emilda – Second Place Girls
All of the Ward Quints!
Timothy & John
Helen Marie
Owen David
Lucy Anne
Julian Emerson (Please tell me this is a boy!, if it is, Second Place Boy!
Simon Fray – Definitely First Place Boy!
Daisy Eve
Sophia Ivy – First Place Girls!
Lucy Arlene
Octavia Daniela
Stella Kimberly
the Wards get an award for best nameed set, overall!
I hate the Gosselins. So tired of hearing about them.

I adore the Dionne quintuplets’ given names. Quite a tragic story, though. I think this is so interesting just to see how names have evolved over time. The Beach names, for example, probably sound very dated for most people, whereas the Ferrils and the Harrises represent the ‘trendee’, um, trend! Oh my, the fun I could have naming that many children!

Christina- I like the Ward and Ross choices too… the boys are all in a similar Scottish/manly vein, while the Ross girls are cute yet substantial.
Emma- I agree that the Ferrills and the Harrises were over-the-top trendy… especially the spelling of Michael as Mykel for one of the Ferrill boy’s middle names. Not my style at all. And what is the story for the Dionne quints? I am now intrigued.
Thanks all for stopping by!

I don’t like the Marie in all the Dionne quints, but the names themselves are gorgeous. I also love the Ward quints. The Beaches also make me smile, as do the Walden 6. What great, non-matchy names! The Rosses also did well. The rest, I can take or leave.

I love the names of the Dionne quints and the sweetly old-fashioned Ward quints. I also like the Denny quints — Ruth, Helen, Emily, Owen, and Jesse — though I’m not sure why Emily Jayne needed to be spelled with that extra Y. They’re not incredibly imaginative, but they’re old-fashioned.

Maybe the “Jayne” spelling was to honor a male Jay. Or maybe they just wanted to be a little creative without resorting to “Jaeiyne.” But either way, I prefer the Jane spelling

Oooh … those Thompsons are quite good at names! Though I do think Emily Elizabeth got gipped.

I wonder how much longer we will have to wait to find out what the So. Cal octuplets will be named!

Well, according to Wikipedia the six Dionne girls were treated as something of a Zoo attraction and people from all over the world would come to watch them play together behind a glass screen or something like that! Can you imagine the outrage if that happened today?!
Oh, by the way, this is Emma, but now I’m blogging I go by Esme because I’m like that. And I hope you don’t mind but I added you to my Blogroll!

I can’t wait to hear the SoCal names! Does anyone know their 6 sibs names?
Esmesqualor: Re: Blogroll: no prob!
That would be horrible if any multiples were put behind glass screens… I sense a lot of suing and jailing would be done. It kind’ve reminds me of the Simpsons episode with Apu’s octuplets, if any of you watch that show at all.

Dearbhail is an old Irish name. Anglicisation would be ‘Dervil’. The meaning is ‘daughter of Ireland’ or possibly ‘true desire’. I disliked my name when I was younger because even here in Northern Ireland not everyone knows how to pronounce it. But now I like having an unusual name!

The Denny Quints names are wrong. Owen David, Jesse William, Ruth Elizabeth, Helen Marie, and Emily Jayne are the Brooks Quints from KC. I personally know the Brooks Quints and family. The Denny Quints names are-Alexis Dianna, Joshua Stanley, Anthony Frank, Julian Mathhew, and Jiliana Hattie.
